Meet the Maker: Will Day
Will Day is an abstract, modern, contemporary painter based in Boulder, CO. His paintings grace the walls of local business, the homes of Boulderites, and can even be found in homes and companies around the world. With an emphasis on allowing viewers to generate their own synopsis of each of his paintings, he creates pieces aimed at drawing out inner emotion and thought rather than provide a piece that has a fortified subject.
Q: At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Will: It was September 11th, 2001, when everything changed for millions of people. It was at that point where I had to find a new direction in life, so I left the world of finance/sales and began my journey as a creative spirit. It was a leap of faith trying to unleash my creative juices and make a living but I knew there was no turning back. I have always been Inspired by the writer Joseph Campbell and he counts every moment in his life as a blessing and that’s how I approach my paintings after the 9/11 tragedy.
